Today the swallows returned. This is a sure sign that Spring is here. I took this video of their acrobatic flying and also caught bird language from many different other birds, including the banging of a red headed sap sucker on a metal gate. You’ll also hear plenty of swallow chirping and some more common calls, like the Song Sparrow, and also, that water droplet sound of a Swanson’s Thrush. The timing of the Swallows tells me it’s safe to start planting seeds directly into the ground. These migratory friends are a welcome sight as harbingers of warmer weather on its way.
